We’re Hiring: Sense Project Summer Research Assistant

Head & Hands is a non-profit community organization dedicated to youth empowerment. We offer health, social, legal and recreational services to youth between 12 and 25 years of age.

Description: The Sense Project summer research assistant will work with Sense Project Coordinator and youth volunteers to coordinate the revision the Sense Project Peer Educator Manual. Their main tasks will include coordinating volunteers, revising the manual, managing manual printing and distribution of both digital and hard copies. The manual will be used for the Sense Project’s peer educator training in September and as a reference document for future workshops on sexuality and sexual health. The Sense Project summer research assistant will also create a structured filing system to organize old and new resources and reference documents for the Sense Project. This is a six-week full-time contract, with an ideal start date of June 10th.

The ideal candidate is bilingual, open-minded, reliable, organized, flexible, autonomous, has knowledge on sexuality and good writing & editing skills (in either French and/or English). Basic computer knowledge, experience in research and understanding of youth culture are assets.

Eligible candidates MUST have been a full-time student last semester, with the intention of returning to school full-time in the fall.

We’re Hiring: Street Work Campaign Coordinator!

Head & Hands, a multi-service youth organization based in NDG, is hiring for the position of Streetwork Campaign Coordinator. The role of the Streetwork Campaign Coordinator will be to develop a sustainable funding strategy for an NDG streetwork program based out of Head & Hands. Streetwork services have been offered by Head & Hands on and off since 1970, with the most recent program running until 2011 with funding from the Montreal Health Agency. Following the discontinuation of this grant (due to government budget cuts), the program has been suspended until sufficient funds can be raised to revive it.

The main responsibilities of the Streetwork Campaign Coordinator will include: analyzing budget needs, compiling and evaluating funding opportunities, organizing community-based fundraising campaigns, researching and writing grants, conducting outreach and media support, and issuing press releases, all in consultation with Head & Hands staff, board and community partners. The Streetwork Campaign Coordinator will be supervised by the Director of Head & Hands and work closely with the fundraising team.

The Health Educator aims to empower youth through health education.  The main responsibilities of this position include the coordination of the Sense Project (Head & Hands’ peer-based sex education program); animating health-related workshops with youth in a diversity of settings; providing one-on-one support and information to youth accessing our services; and establishing and maintaining partnerships with schools and community organizations.

After 40 years of groundbreaking service provision, we are looking for a Director with the creative energy and competence to lead our team in meeting the growing needs of Montreal youth while helping us achieve organizational sustainability.

The Executive Director oversees the financial health and strategic vision of the organization in a way that is collaborative and consistent with our mission, goals, and approach. As a spokesperson, the Executive Director publicly champions Head & Hands’ work and fosters strategic relationships with community partners and donors.  In addition, the Executive Director coordinates human resources, supports staff and clients, and sparks a positive team vibe.

The Executive Director is responsible for managing complex projects, the organization’s finances, and the three Head & Hands locations, while taking responsibility for effective fundraising, grant stewardship and organizational development. The Executive Director reports to, and is an active voting member of, the Board of Directors.
