PARCours 2016: One million Thank Yous!

WOWIE GOSH! PARCours 2016 was such a success and we want to extend a HUGE, warm thank you to everyone who helped make our event possible and so vibrant!

This year, our team Head & Hands not only danced our beautiful dance to fundraise for our amazing Health Services- we built the PARCours event from the ground up! This year was exceptional in so many ways. What has remained constant is the forever-astounding dedication and involvement of our team, communities, and people who care about what we do.
We are filled with gratitude and love for you all. Thanks for making our 2016 HIV / AIDS fundraiser event one to remember.

Currently, $9,690 has been raised of our $25,000 goal. With just under two months to go in our campaign ending Dec. 1st, we are counting on you to help us keep the momentum up. We can do this!

Every donation counts toward supporting our medical clinics, peer sex-ed Sense Project, and our Street Work program. You have all helped us celebrate Montreal’s youth and prevention, and support for those living with HIV/AIDS, and with your continued support, we can continue providing quality, holistic care. We’ll be sure to keep you posted on the total amount raised, and we’re hoping that with your help, we’ll soon be able to celebrate when we reach $25,000.

This year, our fundraising dance-a-thon broke the sunny weather streak, but grey skies didn’t stop our team and HIV/AIDS organizations from Montreal and Quebec from coming out to Girouard Park in Notre-Dame-de-Grace in incredible outfits to flex our dance moves. Many thanks our J2K power team Eva Queen leading us in amazing dance choreography and tunes by Tshizimba.

It was the best day and we can’t wait until next year.
In the meantime, check out more great PARCours photos by Isabel here!

To our partner organizations, staff, volunteers, donors, board members, dancers, and support systems, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Ça Marche 2012: The Movie

In classic Head & Hands fashion, we present our annual Ça Marche dance video for your viewing pleasure!

If you helped us reach our Ça Marche goal this year by giving your time, money, or your moves…well, this one’s for you!

Special thanks to Carol Fernandes and Jess Lee, the super-star volunteers who filmed and edited and made this video as glorious as it is! And to our dancers…we couldn’t do it without you!

Top Three: Our New(ish) Website

Last Friday, we posted a video to thank the fine folks at Plank Design. We won their pro-bono project competition in late 2010, and they worked with us for just over a year to build the beautiful site you are now enjoying as you read this post! In further thanks, we’d like to highlight some of our favourite improvements:

  1. New Branding: Plank rescued our stalled logo redesign process, after we’d considered and tried everything from resurrecting an old logo to working with a volunteer graphic designer to opening a public competition with prize money. Maria’s work was absolutely gorgeous, and we really appreciated Warren and Emerson coming into one of our staff meetings to present concepts to the team!
  2. Clear Navigation: Just look at those menus! It may have taken approximately one thousand re-numberings of our site map (thanks for keeping track, Sarah!) but now you can find the information you need in a logical place. We also love the way our programs are featured on our homepage–because in our hearts, services for our clients are what we’re about.
  3. WordPress: Going with WordPress instead of a custom CMS was something Warren, Jenn, and Hannah agreed upon pretty early in the process. Why? We now have a blog! Our staff, from luddite to tech lover, can now update pages without worrying about breaking something! Our website can easily grow with us, as our programs expand and change over time!

We’re looking forward to new favourites in the coming years!

WOW! This March, our Commit to Our Core campaign brought in 38 new monthly donors (and counting)! We are so grateful for your support, and so excited to have you as members of Head & Hands!

This month we profiled 7 fabulous monthly donors in our Why I Commit series. Wanna be like them? It’s not too late!

Monthly gifts are fantastic because they are stable, and we can rely on them each month through changes in government and funder priorities. They contribute directly to our core costs, like our rent, which can be difficult to fund. Thus, monthly gifts also increase our long-term strength and autonomy! For all these reasons, monthly gifts make a big financial impact for us, without breaking the bank for our members.

THANK YOU to all our existing and new monthlies! We couldn’t do our work without you.
