About Head & Hands and the Overdose Prevention Site
Since 1970, Head & Hands has been helping youth harness their potential to create healthy, vibrant, and caring communities. We envision a society in which all young people are full participants, inspired by the endless possibilities available to them.
The Overdose Prevention site is free for people of all ages. The overdose prevention site is equipped with a team of dedicated staff and volunteers who provide drug testing, supervised consumption, harm reduction education, gear distribution, and referrals. We support people in managing their use in the safest way possible.
The aim of the Overdose Prevention Site is to maintain the community’s well-being by promoting access to health for all, by making available harm reduction information and/or advice and referrals.
About the Overdose Prevention Site Coordinator position
The Overdose Prevention Site will offer five services :
- Supervised Consumption
- Gear Distribution (Needle Exchange)
- Drug Testing
- Harm Reduction Training (Safer consumption, Naloxone Use, How to use Fentanyl Strips)
- Info & Referral
Project Management :
In the weeks before the site opens, the Head and Hands Overdose Prevention Site (HHOPS) Coordinator will be responsible for supervising & coordinating outreach efforts in the form of postering, community workshops and social media posts.
When the site is operational, they will be responsible for supervising the site and for intake. In the case of an incident at the site, the Coordinator will be responsible for managing the incident as well as debriefing with the team and administration afterwards.
After the project is over, they will be asked to write a brief final report based on data collected at the site.
Staff Coordinator :
The selected candidate will be responsible for managing a small team of staff and volunteers.

- Bilingual French & English

- Strong time management skills, personal organization, and attention to detail
- Excellent coordination skills
- Ability to work autonomously
- Skills in supervision
- Strong sense of teamwork
- Experience in working with youth
- Knowledge regarding youth’s health needs and challenges
- Strong active listening skills
- Experience working with marginalized communities
- Understanding or lived experience of drugs and drug use
- Experience in working in a collective
- Experience in working in Non-profit sector
