Would you like to join the YPP team as a volunteer childcare educator?

We are currently looking for motivated, driven and interested people who want to make a positive difference in the life of children between the ages of 6 months and 5 years old. Upon joining the YPP team, you will receive a short practical training on childcare education. This training will provide you with a solid base that you can rely on for your professional and personal life. Your role as a volunteer will help the YPP team achieve its mission which is to break isolation, offer support and create a community circle for families in need.

About Head & Hands and YPP

Head & Hands is a community organization located in NDG, more specifically at 3465 Av. Benny, Montréal, QC H4B 2R9. Since its creation in the 1970s, Head & Hands’ community services are mainly offered to teenagers and young adults. The organization is made up of many distinct departments including YPP. Our Young Parents Program (YPP) is a program offered to families on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Parents enjoy a variety of activities and workshops while our childcare educators and volunteers entertain their children. They facilitate fun and educational activities in a safe and clean environment for kids. To help with the creation of strong community ties, delicious meals are offered to all participants, volunteers and YPP staff.

Job requirements

  • Being able to participate to the entirety of the integration training
  • Understanding and applying the organization’s vision and policies
  • Being honest and open about your motivations and goals
  • Respecting Head & Hands’ confidentiality policy
  • Participating in the maintenance of good relationships between staff and clients
  • Respecting the established schedule
  • Accepting and receiving feedback from a supervisor
  • Participating in the additional trainings offered by the organization

Volunteers can expect the following from Head & Hands and the YPP

  • Receiving adequate training for the job
  • Receiving positive supervision and ongoing support from the program supervisor
  • Being adequately informed of the organization’s diverse policies
  • Working in a healthy, clean, adapted and non-judgmental environment
  • Being given the chance to freely voice feedback
  • Being made aware of any last-minute changes that may affect the schedule
  • Receiving a warm welcome at the volunteer party

You will get the chance to choose your schedule according to your availability and the following work shifts :

  • Monday, Wednesday and Friday : 11:30am to 3:30pm
  • Wednesday and Friday : 9am to 1pm
