Head & Hands envisions a community where young people understand their rights, feel empowered to advocate for themselves, and can navigate legal systems with dignity, confidence, and support.
Our Approach
At Head & Hands, legal support is rooted in the same principles that guide all of our work: accessibility, harm reduction, non-judgment, respect, and youth empowerment.
Rather than looking at a legal issue in isolation, we recognize the whole person and the circumstances surrounding them. Our goal is to help young people build the knowledge and confidence they need to make informed decisions and advocate for themselves.
Legal education is also an important part of our approach. Through workshops, community outreach, rights-based education, and collaboration across Head & Hands programs, we work to ensure that young people have access to reliable information about the laws and systems that affect their lives.
Areas of Support
The Legal Program has historically provided information, support, education, and referrals related to issues affecting youth and young adults, including:
- Housing and tenant rights
- Employment and workplace rights
- Family and relationship matters
- Tickets, fines, and interactions with legal systems
- Discrimination and human rights
- Access to services and government systems
- General legal information and referrals
- Know-your-rights education and workshops
Current Legal Services
Head & Hands remains committed to legal advocacy and rights-based education as a core part of our holistic model.
At this time, individual legal consultations and case-specific legal services are temporarily unavailable while we work to secure the resources necessary to restore this component of the program.
